Separate an observation from an interpretation
Use evidence, alternative readings and uncertainty to review an analysis result.
Anchor each observation in the text
An observation should point to something you can inspect: a question was asked, a proposed date was accepted, or a reply did not address one part of a request. Keep the relevant excerpt beside the observation and check that it has not been shortened in a misleading way. If a result cannot identify the wording or event it relies on, treat it as a claim to examine rather than established evidence.
Counts and timing can describe the sample but need careful labels. A message count depends on how messages were split and which period was included. A delay is a gap between recorded events, not a direct measure of interest or respect. Before attaching meaning to either, check whether the export is complete and whether work schedules, channel habits or missing conversations are relevant context that the sample does not show.
Make the inference visible
An interpretation connects observed wording to a possible meaning. Write it as a possibility, then list a reasonable alternative. A brief answer could be a complete response to a narrow question, a rushed message or something else that the transcript cannot resolve. You do not need to make every explanation equally likely; you do need to avoid presenting one as proven when the available evidence does not establish it.
Ask what new information would distinguish the possibilities. Sometimes a direct clarification can answer the question. Sometimes the important context is unavailable, and uncertainty should remain part of the result. Avoid numerical compatibility, attraction or deception claims unless a specific, appropriate method and its limits are genuinely established. A confident label or percentage should never substitute for an explanation of what the messages support and what they leave unknown.
Evaluate the usefulness of the result
A useful analysis helps you understand an exchange without claiming to diagnose a person or reveal hidden feelings. Check whether it distinguishes quotations, observations and suggestions. Look for examples that challenge your preferred explanation, not just reassuring confirmation. If the result summarizes an entire relationship from a small excerpt, narrow the conclusion back to the sample. The scope of the evidence should remain visible in the scope of the claim.
End with a next step that is proportionate to the uncertainty. You might ask what a phrase meant, confirm a deadline or explain a communication preference. You may also decide that no immediate action is needed. Keep the analysis as an aid to reflection, not as an authority to quote against someone. The other person’s own explanation is additional information to consider, rather than something an automated interpretation can replace.
